Ladder or Stepladder

Well. According to Trucy, the object that gets us from one height to the other is a stepladder. But we shall no longer suffer the oppression of stepladder related incidents! The object good sirs and madams, is a ladder! We all must wake up and see!

"Objection!" Mia barked, pointing her finger at Apollo. "Trucy is right, that thing is a stepladder!"

"Hold it!" Phoenix yelled, brandishing his left index finger at Mia. "Chief, that's obviously a ladder! C'mon, get your eyes checked!"

"Objection!" Franziska's voice rang out. "The object's design is in direct contradiction! It's clearly a stepladder!"

"Hold it!" A cup of coffee appeared in Godot's hand, and he leaned forward on his wrist. "Heh heh heh. Brush up on your English, kitten. That's undeniably a ladder."

"Hold it! I have some evidence that will settle this matter once and for all!" Miles produced a stack of papers from... the same place Godot got his coffee... "According to some research, I have come to this conclusion: A ladder is the one with rounded or squared tubes used for climbing. A STEP ladder is the one that has steps like on a set of stairs and are generally shorter than regular ladders."

"You fail to mention what you believe this one to be," Franziska pointed out haughtily.

"It's a ladder," Phoenix insisted. "Always has been, and always will be!"

"Objection!" Mia pointed at him dramatically. "It's a STEP ladder, Phoenix!"

Ema stepped in. "By close observation, this is CLEARLY a ladder!"

Finally! People are starting to make some sense in this courtroom!

"Hate to break it to you guys, but this is a step ladder. One of my ex girlfriends had one and she even said it was a step ladder."
