High Noon at Gatewater Land

Franziska was practically breathing fire, her eyes blazing as she pulled at Mia and kicked Phoenix repeatedly.

"I'LL NEVER LET GO!" Phoenix bellowed, clutching her tighter. "SHE'S MINE! DON'T TAKE HER AWAY FROM ME!"

He popped some more popcorn into his mouth and enjoyed the show. "Sorry Mr. Wright, but I've got twenty dollars on Ms. Von Karma."

"Oh my aching head..." Miles groaned as he woke up. When he tried to rub his face he realized he couldn't move. "Alright, Miles... Don't panic... What is the last thing you remember doing...?" A fuzzy picture of Franziska appeared in his mind. She was offering him some tea which tasted a bit strange. Then everything went dark. "Oh god, Franziska drugged me..."

He attempted to wriggle out of his restraints to no avail.

Mia whimpered in fear, then noticed Edgeworth moving slightly. "He's trying to escape!" She lied quickly, wanting everyone to let go. She would happily go out with Franziska...maybe...If she wasn't so angry...And to be honest, Phoenix's wailing and whining was starting to hurt her ears.

"CHIEEEEEEEEEEEEF!!" Phoenix wailed, pulling on Mia harder. "STAY WITH MEEEEEEEEEEEEE!"

"I don't think so!" Holding Mia with one hand, Franziska cracked her whip so it wrapped around the rope tying Miles' ankles and hauled him back towards her.

Phoenix growled, "You can't have both Mia and Miles! Choose one, von Karma!"

Mia sighed. "I CHOOSE NEITHER OF YOU! FRIENDS DON'T TEAR FRIENDS LIMB FROM LIMB. I DO SO LIKE HAVING ARMS," she spoke up.

"C'mon Ms. Fey, you've got to choose one of them, or else this entire thing will have been pointless!" He tossed popcorn at the people. "You'll decide eventually, they just have to pull tighter!" He smiled, sipping his drink.

"Can I choose Godot? HE WOULDN'T TEAR ME APART LIKE THIS!" Mia yelled. "GODOT, I CHOOSE YOU!"

But Franziska released Mia and stepped back, a funny look on her face. "Friends?"

The tension from Franziska gone, Phoenix fell backwards, taking Mia down with him. "H-hey Chief," he smiled nervously at her. "Are you mad?"

"Yes, I am!" Mia snarled, now hurriedly getting up, brushing dirt from her skirt suit. "And yes, Franziska, I do think of you as a friend. A rather abusive one, but a friend all the same."

Had... had Franziska had a friend before? There was Adrian, but she had been rather obsessive. And Miles was more of a brother, the more she thought about it. The girl Kay Faraday was the closest Franziska had had to a friend, but that day had been so long ago. Unknown emotion was welling up inside of her, and she pressed a hand to her mouth.

"Franziska? Are you alright?" Mia frowned, and walked over to her. "I mean, if you don't want to be friends..."

"No!" The outburst was unexpected, and Franziska's eyes widened. "That is... I don't mean I don't want to be friends! I just..." Her voice caught in her throat, and her hand was back at her mouth.

Mia watched Franziska in mild confusion. "Franzi?" She hugged her tentatively, feeling as though this was either a brilliant idea, or the worst idea in the world.

Franziska hugged Mia tightly. "Do you mean it, Mia Fey?"

"Yes, I do," Mia said firmly. "You're my gal pal, and now, we're going to go get mani-pedi's, 'cause that's what gal pals do." She grabbed Franzi's arm and began to walk towards the entrance.

"HEY!" Miles piped up, a slightly pained expression on his face. "Listening to this conversation has been entertaining and such but could somebody UNTIE ME? I'm starting to lose feeling in my legs!"

Gal pals. A smile spread across Franzi's face, and she walked with Mia, leaving her brother behind. "I'm not sure I've ever had a mani-pedi," she said sheepishly, slightly ashamed of her emotional outburst.

"I'LL SAVE YOU, EDGEY!" Phoenix bellowed, and pounced Miles. He hugged him tightly, then untied his bounds.

"You haven't?" Mia was shocked. "You have to get one with me, then! Let's go!" She hastened to her car, Franziska in tow. "And, um, are you sure you want to leave Edgeworth behind?"

Franziska looked over her shoulder in disinterest. "He has Phoenix Wright. Besides, the drugs have clearly worn off."
