So, hey, guys, totally just realized. Princess Celestia and Nightmare Moon have the same body type. But Nightmare Moon is a corruption of Princess Luna. In her pure form, she's only slightly taller than non-royal ponies. Perhaps Princess Celestia is a corruption as well. It would certainly explain her more despotic acts.
