Triple Date Night~

"If I call it the CoffeeMobile... once a week," Godot bargained, "will you swear to not alter its appearance in any way?" With his crazy driving, they'd reached the restaurant, but now they had to find parking.

Mia pretended to think it over. "Well...alright," she kissed his cheek. "But if I can't alter its appearance, can Maya?" She grinned mischievously.

Lawyers. Impossible to negotiate with. "No one but myself may alter my car without my express consent in writing," he clarified. He found a spot, parked, and got out to open Mia's door for her.

Lawyers. No fun. She got out of the car once he opened her door. "What do you think is going on?" she slipped her hand in his as they walked towards the restaurant. "I have a feeling Franzi has her whip out already."

Godot laced his fingers with hers. "Actually, I don't know about that. Lang seems to have mellowed her. Either that, or she's getting her whipping in elsewhere." He chuckled at the vague innuendo.

Mia smacked him playfully, "You're terrible! Though you're probably right..." She made a face at the thought nonetheless.

Godot hid his laugh, instead merely smirking as they entered the restaurant and approached the group.

Phoenix smiled as he saw Mia, and moved over some on his side of the booth so she could sit next to him. "Hey, Chief!"

Godot slid into the booth next to Mia and looked around. "So we're not the last ones here."

"Where's Edgeworth?" Mia turned to Phoenix. "He is coming, right?"

"He's supposed to," Phoenix sighed. "I just don't know these days..."

"I'm sure he'll turn up," Mia smiled reassuringly at her law partner. "He'd tell you if he was just going to stand you up."

Godot cocked his head. "That's... That's kind of the opposite of standing up a date..."

"You know what I meant, smarty pants," Mia smacked him lightly.

"Why today..." Miles muttered to himself as he sped towards his destination. "Paco could have gotten sick ANY other day but no... It had to be on what could be one of the most important nights of my life."

"Should we wait a bit before ordering...?" Franziska wondered aloud. Perhaps food would improve the atmosphere.

"Another five minutes," Phoenix was grasping at straws here. "He's gotta show up, right?"

Godot raised a brow to Mia. She couldn't see, but she knew his facial expressions well enough to know the face he was making. He didn't really believe Edgeworth was on his way.

Mia shot him a look. She didn't believe it either, but she didn't want Phoenix to be totally heartbroken. "He'll be here, Phoenix," she said as she rubbed his back comfortingly.

Lang draped and arm around Franziska's shoulders as he watched the conversation. He felt like an outsider. Everyone on the other side of the table had known each other for years, and he'd been in the picture for just a few short months.

Miles pulled into the restaurant parking lot, praying he wasn't as late as he thought he was. Once he found a parking spot, which was a fair walk away, he pulled out his pocket watch. He was well past due. 'Wonderful.' He thought as he began his trek towards the restaurant.

"Really, Chief?" Phoenix looked crestfallen. "I don't think so...He's probably busy with work again..."

Lang had that look on his face again, that looking down the bridge of his nose frown that Franziska knew meant he didn't want to admit something. "What's up?" she asked softly.

"Nothing, sis," Lang assured her, unnaturally aware of the smile he put on. "Just zoned out." He hoped things picked up soon.

Franziska wasn't buying it, but she'd pry later. She checked her watch as her stomach growled. "It's been about five minutes..."
