Not Alone

"Heh... Didn't expect you to actually do that but thanks!" Miles took a bite of his sundae. "Ahh, ice cream. The best way to end a good day, right?"

"Agreed," Phoenix said happily as he ate his ice cream. "This has been so much fun."

"Could you imagine how different this day would have been if I ended up calling my dry cleaners?" Miles laughed through his mouthfuls. "Spend the whole day sorting shirts."

Phoenix chuckled, "Did you ever think you'd have this much fun with me?" He spooned more ice cream into his mouth.

"Not since fourth grade." Miles looked over at Phoenix. "Wow, Phoenix... Your face is covered in ice cream! You need a napkin?"

"I think I got it," Phoenix licked it off with his tongue, trying not to be seductive. "All better!"

Miles blushed a tiny bit. 'That... why did I like that?' He thought as he ate another spoonful of ice cream.

Phoenix continued to eat his ice cream happily. "Hey, Edgey, what kinda girls are you into anyway?" he asked curiously.

"I dunno. I've never found any girls that interested me. I suppose when the right one comes around then I'll know but..." He ate another spoonful. "For now I'm enjoying the single life."

"And how's that working out for you?" Phoenix asked as he ate his ice cream.

"Can't complain. I don't need to worry about making anybody happy." Miles shrugged. "Well, except for my dog. And me, of course."

"But you don't have a special someone in your life to make you happy," Phoenix frowned as he remembered his loving relationship with Dahlia. "Love is just so amazing, it's a pity you don't have a girl in your life."

"You think I don't know that? Believe me, Wright, if I thought I could find a girlfriend I would have kept trying." Miles looked down at his somewhat soupy half bowl of ice cream. "But I've come to terms with my love life."

"You'll find someone," Phoenix placed a hand on Edgeworth's shoulder. "Maybe not right now....but someday, you'll find that special someone."

Miles gave Phoenix a small smile. "You know something? I might believe that some day. The only experience I've ever had with love was when I had a girlfriend for about two weeks. She dumped me because I 'never did anything with her.' The only real reason I went out with her was she was a bit more interesting than other girls."

"Well, there's tons of interesting women out there," Phoenix smiled. "Have you ever tried online dating?"

"I don't trust the internet. Ever since I had some bad run ins with online shopping, the only things I buy are from trusted sellers. Online dating is not a trusted seller." Miles said with an expressionless voice.

"C'mon, Edgey! Lots of people do it! And you're not buying a Russian mail-order bride, you're communicating with other people who share your interests!" Phoenix said, used to Edgeworth's cold manner.

"Then call me an old fashioned sort of man but I prefer meeting people before agreeing to a date." Miles sounded like an old man but he did tell the truth. The idea of online dating never appealed to him even before the online shopping mishap.

"Alright," Phoenix acquiesced. "But it could be fun, y'know, just to see who you'd get."

"Well, if it's for entertainment purposes then I suppose I could give it a shot." Miles shrugged. "But be reminded that it would take a divine act to make me message any potential matches."

Phoenix chuckled as he got his laptop. "Sure thing, Edgey." He pulled up the dating site he used and began to set up a page for Edgeworth. "Interests? Life values? What are you looking for in a mate?"

"Um.... I like my job? Reading, the Steel Samurai, my dog..." Miles listed off other interests and such. "And a potential mate would have to... be able to keep me entertained without forcing me to do things. No one too pushy,"

Phoenix filled out the basic profile information, and clicked the submit button. "Hmmmm...GermanPrincess...likes prosecuting...whips....her kitten...making others feel inferior...kind of sounds like you! Should I check out her picture?"

"......do it and you die." Miles had an idea on who that page belonged to and he did not want to be proven correct. "Let's see if we can find someone else?"
