Turnabout Decaf

"To keep things from being too obvious. Anyone would search for knives. This could prove that the killer wasn't intending on being caught. But what we still don't know is why Bellboy would've done it..."

Ema looked around on the knives for traces of blood.

"Not a smudge... but why was there a bloody knife at the side of the body?" She examined the "murder weapon." "Wait... look at this Polly!"

She showed him the tip of the knife. It curved inside, like a little hole.

"If he was stabbed with this, there would be blood at the tip, but there isn't! The killer must have covered the knife with the blood to make it seem as if it was the murder weapon!"

"But...would the killer really have time to set all of this up before anyone ran in the room? Of course not. Which means the killer planned this beforehand."

Apollo looked over the knife, and the body. "Ema, I need you to take samples from the body, and the blood on this knife. Let me know if they match. I suppose I should head down to the detention center. We can't stay here much longer."

Ema took the samples, as instructed.

"Okay. It'll take some time for me to analyze it. Anywho, I think we've done all we can here anyway. I'll come with you."

"Come with me? The lab closes this early? No wonder the prosecutors of late can't seem to win their cases."

What happened to the good old days? The days when prosecutors always won thei- Actually...lets keep those days dead.

Apollo wondered. "If only we knew who this guy was. I guess the only thing we can do now is visit our client at the detention center..."

"Lets go then."
They head to the detention center. Bellboy sits silently, looking at the floor.
"Hello Mr. Justice... and Miss Ema..."

"Polly, you should question him and see if he knows who the victim was. Maybe he knows of who could have done it to."

"Exactly what I was thinking. Just because Mr. Wright was an Ace Attorney doesn't mean I'm not just a good." Apollo smiled as he approached the bars.

"So, Mr....uh...Client. As it turns out, I'm your attorney for this case. I'll need to ask you some questions. Just be honest, and I'm sure we can get you out of this mess."

"First of all, my friend and I both saw you at the restaurant that night. I'd like you to tell me what you did that night, up until you found the body."

He looked up and spoke.
"I was leaving, as my shift was over. The hours are long, but I enjoy my job. Me and my co-worker always have chats before we leave. We chatted for about 10 minutes. I gathered up all of the leftover plates on tables, and tucked them in the sink. After I put them away I had to use the... er... lavatories. After that, I went to get my things from my locker, and that's when I found the body."

Apollo poked his forehead while he listened to his client. "You and your co-worker? Who's your co-worker?"

"Ah yes. My co-worker is a chef, like Oscar. His name is Sesam E. Bunt. He kinda was the downcast of our shop. He never really was payed well... I feel bad for the man..."

Sesam E...know what. This is getting ridiculous now. This man should be on trial against his parents for even thinking of naming him this!

"If at all possible, could you tell me anything more about Mr. Bunt? Do you know where he lives? Any way we can contact him?"

He shrugged. "I've never seen his house. But he usually hangs around the park."

"The park? You mean the one next to the Kitaki mansion, or Vitamin Square?" Apollo was quickly writing things down on a small pad.

"The one near Kitaki mansion. He's friends of the family. I hear."

"Friends of the Kitakis?" Apollo was surprised to hear their names again.

So this chef...he was a friend of the Kitaki family? Was he a friend of the old Kitakis...or the new ones? I guess I should go ask in person.

"Hmm...Ema, can you think of anything else to ask?"

"Well... we should see if he knew who the victim was. Then see if he could put anyone else at the scene."

"Ema...he obviously knew who the victim was...and he said Mr. Bunt was there that night. After this we're heading over to the Kitaki mansion if we can't locate this guy on our own."

"No, I mean details on the victim. What Bunt could have had as a motive."

"I'm hoping to hear that from Mr. Bunt himself."

"Good plan. Mr. Bunt seems to be the only one possible for committing the murder anyway."

Unless someone else was there... But I'm sure no one else was."

Well...this is already starting to sound like an open and shut case...but one thing still bothers me. I know I'm supposed to believe in my client...but...what if he really was the murderer? Ack! NO! Apollo, you can't think like that. Mr. Wright taught me to stay positive!

"Right. Let's head over to the Kitaki's then."

"Thank you for your help, Bellboy."

They leave and head to the Kitaki Mansion. They engage polite chit-chat with the family from the old case.

"So, do you know of a man named Sesam E. Bunt?"

Plum Kitaki smiled as she answered the question. "Yes, he used to be one of Wocky's friends. After our case, he kinda drifted away from him. Wonder why...? I sometimes see him in the park and he waves, but whenever he sees Wocky he just turns and walks away. Strange, huh?"

"So...Mr. Bunt, and Wocky, they used to be friends...but then something during the last case stopped them? Was it...perhaps he liked being friends with someone with such power? Like Ms. Tiala?"

"Or maybe he-" Apollo stopped his pondering and looked up at Plum, she was looking back at him. Something in her glare made him wondering if he should think things through somewhere...safer. "Well...we should head off to People Park. See you later." Apollo smiled and waved. He was never one to address Plum by her first, or last, or maiden name, Trucy usually got her attention.

"Thanks for the help, Mrs. Kitaki." Ema waved and followed Apollo into People Park. A man was sitting on a bench. He looked troubled.

"I bet that's Mr. Bunt."

Sesam was a small thin man. His raggedy black hair fell down to his shoulders. He looked around the age of 23... or maybe 26... He was wearing a plain green tee-shirt, with a name tag clipped to his shirt pocket. It was Sesam all right.

Alright Apollo...how to approach him...he looked like he doesn't want to be spoken to...

Apollo put on his best smile and approached the man sitting on the bench. "Hello there! Mr. Bunt, correct?"

"Who's asking?" He kept staring at the ground, not making eye contact with Apollo. His voice was hoarse and puffy.
