Just Another Day

"Got it." Miles wrapped the towel around his lower portion and stepped into the cool living room. He then went into Phoenix's bedroom and started to get out some clothes. "Any chance I can stay the night here? No sense in me taking your car from you and you're in no position to drive me home."

"Sure, Edgey," Phoenix got up and stretched. "There's blankets in the closet, and let me know if you need anything." He slowly trudged to his room, half awake. "Edgeworth? I think I like having you as a friend, now."

Miles laughed a bit and smiled. "Get some sleep, Wright. I think you earned it after all the crap that went on today." He went to the closet and got the aforementioned blankets to set up his couch bed.

"Edgey?" Phoenix poked his head out of his room. "Do you like having me as s friend?" He looked at Edgeworth earnestly.

Miles looked at Phoenix in silence. "Y'know what... I think I do. Now get some sleep. And thanks. For getting me out of my house. At least for a little while." He began setting up the couch to sleep on.

Phoenix smiled at Edgeworth. "Anytime," Phoenix yawned and went back into his room. He stumbled over to his bed and fell asleep before his head touched the pillow.

Miles finished setting up his makeshift bed and turned the television to Animal Planet. He lied down and instantly his eye started throbbing. "Oh... right." He knew that night he would have a hard time sleeping.

Phoenix slept deeply, and didn't get up until the next morning. His head was pounding, and he felt sick to his stomach. He couldn't remember last night. Tentatively, he got up and began to dress.

Miles tossed and turned all night, hardly getting a decent sleep. Partly due to the 'bed' he was left in and partly due to his eye. He got up and went into the bathroom to look at his eye. It didn't look as bad as it felt.

Phoenix headed to his kitchen and began to make muffins, getting out the ingredients. He felt marginally better as he woke up more, but not by much. Phoenix tried to distract himself from his hangover by baking muffins.

Miles opened the bathroom door and walked into the living room. He noticed Phoenix busying himself in the kitchen. "Good morning Wright. Do you want any help?"

"OH MY GOD, WHY ARE YOU HERE?" Phoenix nearly dropped his muffin pan, forgetting Edgeworth had spent the night. Needless to say, he was pretty startled by his courtroom rival suddenly appearing out of nowhere.

"Oh, right. You probably don't remember much of yesterday, do you?" Miles asked Phoenix. "For starters, you probably had enough alcohol to kill and preserve a rhinoceros."

"Right, and what, did I score a hot chick?" Phoenix snorted. "'Cause I woke up alone today, Edgey. If I made an ass of myself, I better have gotten a lady or something." He continued to bake his muffins.

"Eh... You tried to convince a woman to cheat on her boyfriend with you. When I tried to stop you, you must have thought I was him and gave me quite the black eye." Miles pointed to his shiner.

"Oh...That was you?" Phoenix's memory started to come back to him. "Heh, I just thought I'd hit a ghost. I'm really, really sorry, Edgey." He scrutinized the black eye. "Damn, I must have been pissed as hell, I normally can't throw a punch."

"Then when she left I decided to take you home. You thought I was Mia, you threw up on me, I spent the night because I didn't want to leave you without your car. Lots of things happened yesterday."

"Why did I think you were Chief?" Phoenix frowned in confusion. "Did I actually have logic for that? And I'm sorry for being a douche..."

"Apparently you were under the assumption that Mia beat you whenever you did something wrong?" Miles moved to fold up the blankets he used for his bed. "And I slapped you to try and get you to calm down."

Phoenix whimpered, "Oh...yeah...she does beat me...her and Maya..." He looked around furtively. "Promise you'll never tell anyone about last night, ever."

"Oh..." Miles stopped everything he was doing for a moment. He then finished folding his bed and walked over to Phoenix. "Don't worry. I would never tell anyone about that."

"Thanks, Edgey," Phoenix smiled as he set the timer on the oven. "How's your eye feeling?" He smiled sheepishly as he leaned against the counter.

"Pretty good, all things considered." Miles smiled back and placed a finger tenderly on his eye. "What're you making?"

"Muffins, hopefully they'll help me to feel a little better," Phoenix rubbed his temples. "Do you like blueberry muffins?"

"You'd have to be insane not to." Miles ran a hand through his hair. "Is there anything I can do to help?"
